Got time for one more before I start in on reviewing the last 2 stouts I have brewed.
This time it’s Victory Brewing. Storm King. 9.10% Imperial Stout.
Not much in the aromas here. Some dank type hops. Almost a blue cheesy kind of thing going on. There is sweetness but not syrupy smelling. Almost nothing that I’d call roasty. Very little.
It’s black. Very black. The tan head stayed for just a little while, but I suspect my glassware for that.
But oh what it lacks in aroma she packs it into the first taste. Wow. That same pungent hop crawls all over your face. Then pulls the roasted barley in with it. There is quite a bit of hop bitterness. But not crazy.
As soon as the feel the thickness of this beer, you think it’s gonna be under attenuated. But I don’t get that at all. Sure it has sweet but that’s not your first thought at all with this.
The hops and the alcohol are the main focus of this. I would not say it’s hot,, but this would be a great beer to hide away for a year.
I’ve had a lot of stouts. This is what my brain sees when I think Russian Imperial.
I award 4.5 (Untappd) to the Storm King
