This classic local-ish beer has always been billed as a dark ale,, but so is every stout. I know this is not a stout, but let’s see what she has.

Very dark brown pour into my pint glass. It’s like one step less than black. Classic ruby highlights with a moderate light tan head. But I can still see carbonation bubbles flowing up the sides.

I don’t get much for hops here, but there is wet grainy and sweetness. Only just the faintest bit of roast here.. but even that might just be in my head.

Taste wise though there is definitely a light roast. Very light, but is there. Along with very low caramel, and the slightest bit of old hop that you can get. Still has that grainy taste, but further back than in the aroma. And oddly, something of a Cola taste. This could be the light caramel I guess. It not an off taste. Just.. unexpected. But it does fit somehow.

Body is light for sure. And decently carbonated. Enough to feel on the tongue. Very low bitterness, but it’s not a sweet beer to begin with so that makes it feel quite balanced.

Very easy going. This would be the beer to give the “dark” beer haters. In a blind taste you would not know this beer is dark.

If I had to try to nail it down,, I’d maybe say a black colored blonde ale?? Yea that’s about right I think.

Always liked this beer and it’s usually easy to find.
Go get one 4/5
